Kadampa Meditation Center NC and meditation classes are suitable for everyone. Everyone is welcome.
Each drop-in class begins with a short guided prayer that encapsulates the essence of Buddhist practice. This is followed by a short and simple guided breathing meditation that creates a feeling of inner calm and contentment. Then the teacher gives a short talk on an aspect of Buddhist view that helps to change the way we think about our self and our experiences, and shows how we can solve our human problems. The class concludes with a longer guided meditation based on the content of the teaching to enable the students to its meaning into their hearts.
Often students stay after class to ask questions, engage in conversation with other class members and the teacher, or to browse the book and gift store.
Most classes run for about an hour to an hour and a half. Floor cushions for class and meditation are optional.
After the class everyone is welcome to stay for informal discussion with classmates or to ask questions of the resident teacher or senior students.
