Introduction to Meditation

What is meditation?

Meditation is simply placing one’s mind on a chosen object.  Through familiarization with this process, numerous benefits manifest and the mind becomes more peaceful as a result.  Different objects and styles of meditation may be used depending on the desired result.

These Introduction to Meditation classes teach the basics of meditation and provide the student with practical tools for developing their own regular practice.  The classes are offered on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm.  They feature a comfortable mixture of simple instruction and guided practice along with opportunities for group discussion or asking questions to clarify the various concepts and techniques.

The format for this course is a repeating cycle of six classes.  Walk-ins are welcome.  Any class is good for starting.  You learn a variety of meditations and techniques for improving your concentration.  Everybody is welcome, at any level of experience.  Wear clothes for sitting comfortably.

These classes are approximately one hour long, with a fee of $5.  ($4 for students / seniors.)
