classAbout the weekly classes

Kadampa Meditation Center NC and meditation classes are suitable for everyone. Everyone is welcome.

All weekly classes are drop-in. Some begin with a short guided prayer that encapsulates the essence of Buddhist practice. This is followed by a short and simple guided breathing meditation that creates a feeling of inner calm and contentment. Then the teacher gives a practical talk on an aspect of Buddhist view and way of life that helps to change the way we think about our self and our experiences, and shows how we can solve our human problems through our practice of training the mind. The class concludes with a longer guided meditation based on the content of the teaching to enable the students to take its meaning into their hearts.

Tea and snacks are available before and after the classes. Often students stay after class to ask questions, engage in conversation with other class members and the teacher, or to browse the book and gift store.

All weekly drop-in classes run from a half-hour (Lunchtime Meditations and Monday evening After-work Meditation) to an hour (Wednesday evening Book Club) to an hour and fifteen minutes (Tuesday Meditation & Modern Buddhism, and Sunday Advice for a Happy Life). Both floor cushions and chairs are available.

Meditation branch classes are also hosted weekly in Matthews and Cornelius.
