“The more we control our mind, the more our inner peace increases and the happier we become.”
-Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
These meditation classes are ideally designed for beginners to meditation. Meditation is training the mind to be peaceful regardless of what happens. Each week, we teach a variety of meditation objects so you can build a collection of tools for keeping your mind peaceful. We explain why meditation works, teach you how to meditate, and lead you through guided meditations.
It is recommended to attend 3 consecutive classes, as it is good to be consistent with meditation to receive deeply positive results. However, there are no commitments, so come to one class or all three.
You will learn:
- How to meditate and it’s benefits, with two meditations to use at home
- An introduction to meditation objects and how they create a peaceful mind
- An introduction to concentration, maintaining a home practice and overcoming obstacles during meditation
Questions and taking notes are encouraged. Wear clothes for sitting comfortably. We provide cushions, mats, and chairs.
Meditation CD’s and MP3’s are available for purchase from Tharpa with the meditations used for this course. Click on the image for details and pricing. The center bookstore has a few in stock, also.
The Living Meditation Series provides a comprehensive introduction to meditation, offering guidance to all levels of practitioners for developing and deepening their meditation practice. Learn to relax the body and mind, develop inner peace and mental clarity, and maintain a kind and patient attitude towards others.
There are free also Introductory Meditation videos at Videos at Kadampa.org
