Meditation & Modern Buddhism
Tuesdays 7:00pm – 8:15pm
A drop-in class of guided meditation and teaching
with Our Resident Teacher and Buddhist monk, Gen Kelsang Tilopa
Schedule of Topics:
4/3 Using Wisdom in Everyday Life (2 weeks)
To eliminate our problems and become the best we can be we need both compassion and wisdom. Wisdom comes from listening, contemplating, and meditating on the two truths, conventional and ultimate. We need to understand how conventionally things arise from causes and conditions, and how even though they appear they do not ultimately truly exist other than that appearance. So we need the wisdom to understand Karma and Emptiness.
4/17 The Way to Become a Perfect Friend to Everyone(4 weeks)
To become a friend to everyone we have to enter the path of those gone before who out of compassion sought enlightenment in order to free others from their suffering. In this four week section, Gen Tilopa will explain the Path of the Bodhisattva and the Practice of the Six Perfections.
5/1 No Class US Spring Festival Green Tara Empowerment
5/22 A Modern Buddhist Way of Life (4 weeks)
This semester will conclude with teachings on the Kadampa Way of Life, and commentary on the essential meditations on the Path to Enlightenment.
