Saturday October 12th, 10am to 1pm
With Western Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Tilopa
Cost: $30-adult; $20-student and senior; friend w. adult $20
In our daily search for happiness we meet situations and other people, and act in response to how we experience these people or situations.
If we apply wisdom to every situation then our decisions and actions may always be a cause of our own happiness and peace. In addition we will find we are able to solve problems, fulfill our wishes, and help others find their peace and happiness too. But without wisdom we make mistakes and destroy the very happiness we long for.
In Buddhas teachings we find two types of wisdom. The wisdom that understands Karma, the relationship between our own actions and our experiences, and the wisdom of emptiness or lack of inherent existence that realizes how things really exist in dependence upon our own mind. If we use these wisdoms in everyday life we can avoid mistakes that cause ourselves and others to suffer, and we can more easily generate our own inner peace and happiness by letting go of mistaken ways of thinking.
Gen Kelsang Tilopa will give teachings and lead meditations which explain wisdom; the benefits of living with wisdom; and how we can practice wisdom in our daily life.
No previous meditation experience required. Everyone is welcome!
