THE BODHISATTVA VOW CEREMONY
with Gen Kelsang Tilopa
IN-PERSON & LIVESTREAM
Jun 11, 2021
7 – 8:45pm
During this special ceremony, Gen Kelsang Tilopa will explain the nature and function of a Bodhisattva, someone seeking to make their human life meaningful by attaining enlightenment for the sake of all other living beings.
During this Bodhisattva Vow Ceremony you can make the strong determination for yourself to become a Bodhisattva—someone, motivated by compassion for all living beings, who engages in the training of the Six Perfections to eventually become a fully enlightened being, with the power to benefit everyone every day.
The Six Perfections are Giving, Moral Discipline, Patience, Effort, Concentration, and Wisdom.
The Bodhisattva’s training is described in two texts, “Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life”, by the bodhisattva Shantideva, and “Meaningful to Behold” a commentary on Shantideva’s text by Ven Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
The way to maintain the commitments of the Bodhisattva and avoid downfalls is described in “The Bodhisattva Vow” by Ven Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
