Thoughts for a Happy Life: The Kadampa Way of Life Part I: Sep 12, 10 am – 1 pm

In the early 11th Century, the famous Indian scholar and teacher Atisha gave a discourse to the Tibetan people known as “Advice from the Heart of Atisha”. This scripture implicitly shows how to practice all of Buddha Shakyamuni’s teachings in daily life. It is renowned as a perfect set of instructions for anyone wishing to improve themself and find real happiness. Anyone can benefit from taking to heart and practicing any of the 46 pieces of advice. The whole scripture is essential advice for Modern Day Kadampa practitioners.

In this 1/2 day course, Gen Kelsang Tilopa will explain some of the 46 pieces of advice and guide meditations so that you can experience the deep meaning of this advice.

The scripture “Advice from the Heart of Atisha” is part I of a pamphlet called “The Kadampa Way of Life”. Part II is “The Three Principal Aspects of the Path” by the 14th-century scholar and teacher Je Tsongkhapa. Gen Tilopa will teach from Part II during the following Saturday 1/2 day course on Sep 19.

The “Kadampa Way of Life” can be also found as an appendix in the following texts by Ven Geshe Kelsang Rinpoche, “How to Transform Your Life”, ” The New Eight Steps to Happiness”,  “The New Meditation Handbook”.

Meditating on the Path: The Kadampa Way of Life Part II: Sep 19, 10 am – 1 pm

The Kadampa Way of Life Part II is Je Tsongkhapa’s “The Three Principal Aspects of the Path”. This is a profound guide to meditation on the stages of the path, Lamrim. By sincerely practicing Atisha’s advice in our daily life, and striving constantly in the Lamrim meditations, we can develop a pure and happy mind and gradually progress towards the ultimate peace of full enlightenment.

In this 1/2 day course, Gen Kelsang Tilopa will explain the meaning and guide meditations from the Three Principal Aspects of the Path.
